Bengalis of New York started in 2018 as a passion photography & videography project where we
captured the stories of Bengali street food vendors and small businesses around NYC

We began by documenting the fast growing Bengali diaspora through photos and videos, then
expanded into a podcast and in-person events to build community.

We transformed the documentary clips into a short film showcased at the first New York Bengali
Film Festival (NYBFF) in 2023, and have continued hosting the festival each year with filmmaker
panels and red carpet celebrations of Bengali creativity.
