Conversation with CPA, Ahad Ali

In this episode of the podcast, we talk with BoNY’s resident accountant, Ahad Ali. Ahad is a New York City based CPA, his company, Ahad&Co helps businesses and individuals with tax, accounting and advisory services.

Excerpt: “When looking for someone to do your taxes, I don’t think it’s absolutely necessary to look for a CPA (Certified Practicing Accountant), even though I’m a CPA. However I do think you should look for certain certifications such as an “EA” or Enrolled Agent, that is basically a tax specialist licensed by the IRS. For the younger generation, once your income goes above a certain income level, I think you should file separately from your parents. Obviously, your parents can claim you forever, but the benefits to your parents go away after a certain age.”
