Beef Shatkora

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 lb beef (washed and drained)
  • 3 pieces of Shatkora<BR>
    2 medium chopped onions
  • 1/3 cup of oil
  • 4 cardamom
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 1.5 tsp minced ginger
  • 1.5 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 tsp salt (or salt to taste)
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1.5 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp chilli powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 4 cups of water required

Optional: 1 tsp of pachporan (5 spices)
Optional: Julienne ginger slices to garnish

STEPS

  1. Soak dried shatkora in water to hydrate it
  2. Add all the spices (except onions) to the raw beef to marinate it
  3. Heat oil in a pan and add the onions to sauté
  4. Once onions are translucent, add the marinated beef
  5. Bring the beef to simmer then cover and cook for 40- 45 minutes
    Note: (Stir it often to prevent it from burning)
  6. Add 4 cups of water after all the water from the beef evaporates
  7. After the beef is ¾ cooked, add the shatkora and finish cooking the beef
  8. Serve it in a bowl and garnish it with ginger
